Jermaine Jenas may have fallen foul of a public disgrace, but the former Tottenham player, who has been through a lot of different emotions, including anger and blame, says he eventually realised he needs to take responsibility, so he can be able to move forward.

Jenas, speaking to Reece Mennie on his podcast, has tipped a dramatic ‘last-minute bid’ piece of transfer action to take place, perhaps at the death of the window.

I would love Grealish to come to Spurs. If anybody’s built, you know, like a Ginola type player who would just be loved and adored at a club like Spurs, it’s Grealish. And Jack needs it. Jack needs that element of I can still be Jack the Lad and have that flair.

Spurs fans would adore him. I’m sure that Daniel is having a distant look and the whole situation, and I think he will make a last-minute bid.

We have often spoken about the need for Tottenham to have a better midfield structure, and this was never more so the case than under Ange Postecoglou. Jenas himself questioned what the Australian was playing at when it came to James Madison – a player Roy Keane was equally unhappy with.

I think you saw last year with Ange that’s a lot of the dealing with James was to take him out of the team at times, and I do not doubt in my mind that Spurs are a better team with James in it. He just went through some tough spells. You know you have to step up your game, or you’re going to be on the bench.

If Daniel Levy wants to take this team to be a consistent Champions League team and Challenge for the league, then that is what you need. You need two in each position that are pushing each other all the way to play every single week.

Grealish has been a long-term ambition for the Tottenham board, and this would certainly improve the current mood in the fan base.
