The signing was officially announced by Tottenham recently.

Andy Robertson wasted no time announcing himself as a Tottenham Hotspur player on the international stage, providing an assist in Scotland’s 4-0 friendly win over Bolivia at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday.

The left-back, who was recently confirmed as a Spurs signing, delivered the kind of display that will have supporters at N17 excited. In just the opening five minutes, Robertson overlapped Ryan Christie to the byline and sent in a dinked cutback for Lawrence Shankland to head home, setting the tone for a comprehensive evening for the Tartan Army.

Captain Andy Robertson leading the charge

Robertson captained Scotland and played the opening 45 minutes before being replaced by Kieran Tierney at half-time. The result extended Scotland’s confidence ahead of what is a landmark occasion, their first World Cup since 1998.

The 94th cap of his international career, Robertson remains Scotland’s second all-time appearance maker. With Group C opponents Haiti up first on Sunday 14 June, Steve Clarke’s side will be hoping their new Spurs man carries that form into the tournament itself.

For Tottenham, it is an encouraging early glimpse of what Robertson brings. At 32, his delivery and attacking instincts are clearly undimmed, and if Saturday was anything to go by, Spurs have added a player who still operates at the very top of his game.
