Tottenham Hotsur among clubs keen on free agent Raheem Sterling, Jorgen Strand Larsen set for Crystal Palace on deadline day - Paper Round

TNT Sports

Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli and Burnley are just some of the clubs in the hunt for Raheem Sterling, who became a free agent after leaving Chelsea by mutual consent last week. Elsewhere, Crystal Palace have had a bid accepted for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, and Brighton & Hove Albion could bring Matt O’Riley back from Marseille for the remainder of the season.

Sterling linked with Burnley and Tottenham moves

Tottenham and Burnley have both been credited with an interest in Raheem Sterling, who left Chelsea last week.

The i Paper also mentions Fulham as a potential destination as well as Italian sides Juventus and Napoli.

The paper reports: "Burnley are said to be keen, where Sterling could link-up with former Manchester City team-mate Kyle Walker, while Fulham could offer him the chance to remain in London.

"However, intrigue abounds over the reported seven Champions League clubs interested, a list not fully known but one that includes Tottenham Hotspur, who have defied their Premier League form with their performances in Europe.

"Sterling’s Big Six bingo card would almost be complete if he joins Spurs, with only Manchester United left.

"Spurs supporters are unlikely to warm to the prospect, unless Sterling is there to warm the bench and lend his experience. It hardly screams ambition from the club, either, while if he wants actual warmth he may fancy Italy, where Napoli and Juventus are said to be weighing up a move."

Strand Larsen nears Palace switch

Wolverhampton Wanderers could receive up to £48 million from Crystal Palace for Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The Norwegian international is a replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, while Wolves are looking at Southampton’s Adam Armstrong.

The Daily Mail states: "Wolves have accepted Crystal Palace's latest bid for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. The offer is £43 million guaranteed plus £5m in add-ons.

"Wolves are in talks to sign striker Adam Armstrong from Southampton for £9m.

"Jean-Philippe Mateta is poised to leave Palace for AC Milan once final details are sorted.

"Larsen will have his Palace medical later today. The Norway international has agreed a four and a half year contract plus a year's option."

Brighton consider O’Riley return

Brighton & Hove Albion are considering bringing Matt O’Riley back from his loan at Marseille in France.

The 25-year-old midfielder saw his Ligue 1 side miss out on the Champions League knockout phase, and Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler is weighing up whether he could be used in the Premier League.

The Athletic writes: "Brighton & Hove Albion are in negotiations with Marseille over a potential return for Matt O’Riley from his loan spell.

"Marseille will have missed out on a further financial windfall after the Ligue 1 club’s exit from the Champions League at the league phase stage this week under former Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

"A deal hinges on whether Fabian Hurzeler, De Zerbi’s successor at the Amex Stadium, believes O’Riley, 25, can make a contribution for the rest of the season in an area of the pitch where there is already widespread competition for places. Rules prevent the versatile midfielder from going back out on loan to another club, having already played for Brighton and Marseille this season."
