Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been handed a boost in a potential pursuit of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
Graeme Bailey of TBR Football reports that Ramsey and Villa are considering parting ways this summer, and that previous frontrunners, Nottingham Forest, are no longer viewed as a likely destination. A potential switch to North London could be on the cards for the Englishman who has two years left on his contract.
The 24-year-old wants assured game time, which he's unlikely to receive at Villa Park, and he could be one of the Villans' high-profile departures to allow them to comply with PSR. Unai Emery would rather keep him but may struggle to do especially if a Champions League club come to the negotiating table.

A summer move could take place
Tottenham aren't alone in the race for Ramsey despite Forest seemingly falling behind the Lilywhites. There is also interest in the Birmingham-born talent from Newcastle United, who like Spurs, can offer him Champions League football next season.
Villa may be willing to sell the midfielder at around £40-50m, and it's said that the North Londoners are "hugely keen". Daniel Levy and his recruitment team have got to work on building on their Europa League win and embarking on a new era under new manager Thomas Frank.
Mohammed Kudus arrived from West Ham United in a £55m deal, while Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic joined from Hadjuk Split for £12m. The midfield is an area that could use improvement following a disappointing 17th-placed finish in last season's Premier League.
Spurs had been close to completing a deal for Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his £60m release clause. The transfer has been paused after the Tricky Trees claimed an unlawful approach was made for the English midfielder, who was ready to undergo a medical.
Whether this will have implications on a potential pursuit of Ramsey, dubbed "dangerous", remains to be seen, but they are admirers of the Villa academy graduate. He will be eager for more first-team opportunities ahead of England's 2026 World Cup campaign next summer.
