Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a timely lift on the injury front, but Mohammed Kudus seemingly remains absent.

The Roberto De Zerbi era is now in full swing for Tottenham Hotspur following his appointment earlier this week after parting ways with Igor Tudor.

The former Brighton manager is now tasked with helping Spurs beat the drop this season, given how close they are to the bottom three, with just one point the difference between themselves and 18th-placed West Ham United.

De Zerbi will be hoping he can get off to a winning start when he takes his side to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light next weekend.

Tottenham boost as Mathys Tel returns to training ahead of Sunderland fixture

Spurs have not been in action for close to a month, given the international break and the return of the FA Cup this weekend, a competition they have since crashed out of.

That has afforded De Zerbi time to work with this group of players before their next league game on April 12. We expect that at least five players could return from injury before that encounter, and recent training footage has now confirmed the return of one star.

Mathys Tel was seen in training at Hotspur Way during what was De Zerbi’s first session. The young Frenchman picked up a knock in Spurs’ 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest last time out.

His return to training is undoubtedly a big boost for De Zerbi, who is currently short on left-wing options given Tottenham’s injury crisis.

Spurs injury concerns remain: Where is Mohammed Kudus?

While Tel was spotted in training, several other stars on the sidelines were not seen. There was no sign of Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur or even Mohammed Kudus.

Igor Tudor had revealed that Kudus was set for a return after the latest international break, but footage from training does not show the Tottenham forward.

However, that does not rule the Ghanaian’s return out, nor does it mean he has faced any setback. Fans will have to wait for further updates from new head coach De Zerbi.
