Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The 20-year-old is regarded as a special young talent, and he has shown his qualities in the Premier League with Manchester United. According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham are interested in him, but moving for him is not a priority right now.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to come forward with an offer for him in the near future. There is no doubt that he is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he could be a long-term asset for the club. However, it is very unlikely that Manchester United will let a special young player like him leave the club anytime soon, especially to a rival club.
Manchester United have struggled in recent seasons, and they must hold onto their best young players if they want to build a formidable squad for the future.
Spurs could use Mainoo
Meanwhile, Tottenham need more quality and technical ability in the middle of the park, and the 20-year-old has the tools to develop into a complete midfielder. He’s a hard-working player who will help out defensively, and he has the control and the composure to dictate the tempo of the game as well. He can help out creatively and score goals as well.
There is no doubt that he would be an exceptional acquisition for most teams in the country.
Kobbie Mainoo is very highly rated
The midfielder is very highly rated at Manchester United, and club legend Paul Scholes has labelled him as a special talent who is 10 times the player he was at 19 years of age.
Scholes said: “Read a few comparisons between me and this kid last week… don’t waste your time, he is 10 times the player I was at 19. Just love the way he receives the ball, the calmness, the awareness of what’s around him and of course big goals in big games. This boy is special… and he’s a f***ing Red.”
Tottenham would have to pay a serious amount of money if they want to sign an elite talent like him from Manchester United. Even though they are struggling, they simply cannot afford to lose prodigious young players like Mainoo, and they will look to make any potential move very difficult.
