Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.
According to a report from German publication SportBILD, four Premier League clubs are keen on the 22-year-old Netherlands international.
The player’s brother is reportedly holding talks with interested parties. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done. The player will cost around £60 million, and it will be an expensive acquisition for the north London club.
Tottenham need Xavi Simons
Simons is a talented young player with a bright future, and he could be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. They need a dynamic attacker capable of slotting into multiple roles, and the Netherlands international certainly fits the profile. He is capable of operating centrally as well as on the flanks. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and score goals as well. The player scored 11 goals for the German club last season and picked up eight assists as well.
The Netherlands International has been labelled as an “exceptional” player.
He will only improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a top-class Premier League player with the right guidance. The opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League with Tottenham will be exciting for the player. They are a big club, and he could be attracted to the idea of joining them next season.
Tottenham have been tracking Simons for more than a year.
Arsenal keen on the player
Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are keen on the player as well. Tottenham will need to act quickly if they want to beat the competition for his signature.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need a versatile attacker like him as well. Players like Gabriel Martinelli were quite underwhelming last season, and the Gunners need more depth in the attack. They will be able to provide him with the opportunity to fight for league titles and the Champions League. It remains to be seen whether they can convince the young attacker to join them instead of the other English clubs.
