Tottenham Hotspur’s search for attacking reinforcements is only just getting started, with fresh reports suggesting Spurs are now targeting Benjamin Nygren, who has 28 goal involvements this season.
Tottenham Hotspur only invested in the signing of a new number 10 last summer when they brought in Xavi Simons for £51m.
There is no denying that James Maddison’s ACL injury, picked up during pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, was one of the major reasons behind that move.
Unfortunately for Spurs, Simons has now suffered a similar fate and is set to miss the rest of the current season, with the midfielder not expected back until 2027.
Tottenham target Benjamin Nygren transfer from Celtic
TeamTalk is now reporting that Tottenham have set their sights on another attacking midfielder ahead of next season.
It is claimed that Celtic star Benjamin Nygren is on Spurs’ radar, with the north London side viewing him as a cost-effective option and keen on securing his services.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign, earning Celtic’s Player of the Year award after scoring 20 goals.

Given Tottenham’s lack of goals this season, it is no surprise to see them linked with a player capable of consistently finding the back of the net.
Spurs face competition for Benjamin Nygren deal
Spurs Web has also revealed that Nygren could be available for a relatively modest fee, with Celtic believed to value the attacking midfielder at around £26m.
In terms of wages, Nygren also fits Tottenham’s structure, with the midfielder currently earning £20,000 per week – a figure Spurs are reportedly willing to quadruple.
However, Tottenham will not have a free run at the versatile attacker, who is also capable of operating in central midfield and out wide.
Aston Villa, Brighton, Bournemouth and Valencia have all shown interest in Nygren, while Celtic are reportedly open to selling as they look to generate significant funds for their own transfer business.
