Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford during the summer transfer window.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, they have entered the race for the 27-year-old England international, and they will face competition from clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle United as well.
The report claims that Rashford is “out of favour” at Manchester United and they are prepared to sell him this summer. He was on loan at Aston Villa during the second half of last season.
Tottenham could use Marcus Rashford
He is a proven performer in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he would be an excellent addition to the Tottenham attacking unit. He is capable of operating anywhere across the front three, and his versatility will be a bonus.
Rashford will look to get back to his best, and leaving Manchester United would be ideal. He is not a key part of the plans, and they are unlikely to be able to offer him regular game time.
On the other hand, Tottenham need a versatile attacker like him. He could be the ideal alternative to Timo Werner, who has left the club upon the expiry of his loan deal.
Rashford willing to take a pay cut
However, any deal could be complicated by the player’s current wages. He earns £325,000 a week at Manchester United, and it is highly unlikely that any club would be willing to pay that kind of money to him. The report claims that he would be willing to take a pay cut to join the right club.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the player to join. He could be available for a reasonable amount of money, given his situation at Old Trafford, and if Spurs manage to get the best out of him, the deal could prove to be a major bargain.
