Marc Guehi was heavily linked with the move away from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window, but a move to Liverpool did not work out.
The player will be on the radar of multiple clubs when the transfer window reopens in January. According to TBR football, Tottenham are expected to join the race for the 25-year-old central defender.
Guehi would be a solid addition
He has been an outstanding performer in the Premier League, and he is certainly one of the best defenders in the league right now. Signing him for a reasonable amount of money could prove to be a masterstroke. He will be a free agent in the summer, and Crystal Palace could be tempted to sell him for a nominal price in January.
Several other clubs are keen on the 25-year-old, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can win the race for his signature. They need more depth in the defensive unit, and Guehi will help them tighten up at the back and add greater control from the deep.
Spurs join Marc Guehi race
Graeme Bailey stated on TBR: “Liverpool will be back for him, of course. But they know they’ll be one of many clubs making an offer. Now, with Guehi, it resets everything. Everyone starts at a blank slate.
“Guehi’s people are aware of the clubs who have already told them they’ll be making an offer next summer – clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid.”
“In England, let’s see where Tottenham finish – they love him as a player. Would Chelsea come into the equation on a free transfer? Of course, they would. Man United? If they finish in the top four, of course they do.”
