Tottenham must ensure they have sufficient squad depth before heading into the new season.
Tottenham Hotspur chiefs have been working to get four separate deals over the line, with Andy Robertson already confirmed as the first signing of the Roberto De Zerbi era.
Fabrizio Romano has given the ‘here we go’ for Marcos Senesi, who will potentially arrive at White Hart Lane on a free transfer from Bournemouth. The North London outfit are also progressing with a deal to sign Manchester City winger Savinho, who is understood to have already agreed personal terms. Spurs also remain in talks with Brighton and Hove Albion over the signing of highly-rated central defender Jan Paul van Hecke.
The Lilywhites certainly need more than four new signings if they are to challenge for European spots next season. It is believed that Savinho may not be the only winger to arrive at White Hart Lane this summer, with Tottenham keen on adding depth to that position.
Tottenham learn the asking price of Israeli international
Recent reports suggest Spurs are exploring a move for Union SG’s rising star Anan Khalaili. The 21-year-old, who can operate as a right wing-back, right-sided midfielder or right-winger, managed six goals and as many assists across all competitions this past campaign.
According to a report from Belgium outlet HLN, Union SG are demanding a fee of more than €25m to sell Anan Khalaili this summer. Tottenham may not have a free run at the Israeli international, with Serie A side Napoli also keeping tabs on him.
Tottenham could do very well to have a creative and versatile talent like Khalaili in their ranks next term. Technically gifted, energetic, combative, creative and with an eye for goal, the youngster would be a fine fit in De Zerbi’s system. The Italian tactician has nurtured several young talents during his managerial career, and he’d love to work with the Union SG starlet.
The Haifa-born talent would enhance Tottenham’s depth of the squad. Having a versatile player like Khalaili would always be a blessing for a tactically astute manager, but it is likely he will seek regular game-time assurance from De Zerbi before agreeing to move to Spurs. At 21, the 16-cap Israeli international would want to play regularly and not be a squad option.
So, even if the Lilywhites agree to Union SG’s financial demands, De Zerbi will need to convince Khalaili of his project and assure him of regular playing opportunities.
