Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the finest young talents in the Premier League, and Tottenham are keen on him. According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham have been following the player for a few seasons, and they like him.

Gold has now revealed that Tottenham wanted to sign the player last year as well. It will be interesting to see if they come forward with an offer to get the deal done this time. However, signing him will not be easy. Crystal Palace will demand a fee of around £100 million for the midfielder.

Adam Wharton move seems unlikely

Spurs need to improve other areas of their squad, and they are likely to be priced out of a move for the England international. They need a reliable defensive midfielder, especially with Yves Bissouma likely to move on this summer. Wharton would have been the ideal replacement for the African.

He has the tools to develop into a top-class player, and he could have been a future star for Tottenham.

Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market

Tottenham have been quite active in recent weeks, and they have already signed Mohammed Kudus. They are likely to secure the signature of Morgan Gibbs-White as well. Signing a defensive midfielder would be exceptional for them.

It will be interesting to see if they can plug the gaps in the other areas of their squad before the window closes. They will be aiming for a successful season after winning the Europa League last time out. They were disappointing in the league, but they will look to bounce back strongly and finish in the top four.
