Tottenham Hotspur were dealt a major blow last night after Eberechi Eze decided to move to Arsenal, and they are looking at Morgan Rogers now.

The 27-year-old was expected to join Spurs this summer, but Arsenal made a late move to sign the player, and he has agreed to join them instead.

Spurs are looking at Rogers now

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are looking at potential alternatives after the transfer. They are reportedly considering a move for “one of the dream targets”, Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. However, they are well aware of the fact that the deal will be extremely difficult, and it seems unlikely that Aston Villa will sanction his departure at this stage of the window.

There is no doubt that the 23-year-old is an exceptional player, and he was one of the best young players in the Premier League last season. He was rightly chosen as the PFA young player of the year as well. Aston Villa need to hold onto players like him if they want to secure European qualification and domestic trophies. It will be extremely difficult for Tottenham to convince them.

Morgan Rogers would be a major coup

On paper, he would be an exceptional acquisition, but Tottenham will have to pay over the odds to stand any chance of convincing the West Midlands club.

The midfielder produced 14 goals and 16 assists last season. There is no doubt that he is good enough to play for any team in the country, and he would significantly improve Spurs. James Maddison is sidelined with a serious injury, and Rogers could be the ideal replacement.

The opportunity to join a top team will be exciting for the young midfielder, but it seems unlikely that he will force an exit from Aston Villa. The two clubs will have to agree on a deal in order for the move to go through.
