Tottenham are prepared to continue their busy January window right until the deadline. They have already signed Conor Gallagher but could still bring back another former Premier League player before the window shuts.

According to reports, ex-Aston Villa attacker Moussa Diaby is on their radar heading into the final few days, but they will have to beat off Inter Milan to have a chance.

Diaby is currently in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ittihad but is ready to return to Europe and could do it mid-season if things move quickly. The 26-year-old has only score three times this term but does boast an impress 11 assists in all competitions.

Tottenham need to act quickly

It is claimed via The Independent that Spurs are ready to try and take on Inter in a battle for Diaby, especially after securing a place in the top eight of the Champions League.

Diaby is thought to be keen on playing in Europe's top competition, which both Tottenham and Inter can offer, for the next few months at least. Thomas Frank's side are looking unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League as they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League with a rotten recent record.

That hasn't stopped them from making a play for Diaby despite Inter being the current favourites. It is said that there is still time to force a U-turn as Diaby, who earns more than £250,000-a-week in Saudi according to GIVEMESPORT sources, seeks a way back into the France squad.

He has an outside chance of making it to the World Cup but would require a big end to the season. Diaby has not been selected by Didier Deschamps since leaving Villa in 2024 for £50million.

The winger recorded five goals and 15 assists in 24 matches in his first league season, helping Al-Ittihad win the title. He only spent one year at Villa, scoring six and assisting 10 as Unai Emery lead the team to fourth spot and the Champions League.

Frank needs reinforcement

There is a similarity between Gallagher and Diaby; Premier League players sold for good money and (for Diaby) possibly going back to England after a short period away.

For Frank, it is absolutely necessary. Spurs have struggled with the few fit attackers they have and they are simply rotating out right now. Dominic Solanke comes back but Richarlison is sidelined.

Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain sidelined with Randal Kolo Muani still searching for his mojo. Mohammed Kudus is unavailable and Mathys Tel is still unsure of how exactly to impact top level matches.

Diaby is a proven Premier League player with a track record to shout about. He went to Villa off the back of scoring 13 and nine in his last two Bundesliga seasons, assisting 12 and nine in the process.

It's also a transfer that feels right for Tottenham, someone to raise the bar for now and help them push on again in the future.
