Lucas Bergvall appears to face an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur, and clubs are reportedly beginning to circle north London like sharks.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to surrender a small percentage of any potential fee that they get for Lucas Bergvall. The 20-year-old midfielder, whom the Lilywhites signed from Djurgarden for £8.5million in February 2024 when Daniel Levy was still at the helm, has recently been linked with an exit as Roberto De Zerbi looks to rebuild his squad.
According to Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt, Djurgarden inserted a sell-on clause, in the region of 10 per cent, into Bergvall's contract when the Allsvenskan outfit sold him to Spurs. The report claims that, assuming Tottenham can get £45m for his signature this summer, they would be entitled to around 50 million kronor (£3.9m).
football.london understands that the Lilywhites had been monitoring the Swede for a while before Johan Lange was appointed technical director and pushed to wrap up a deal. It's said that Dejan Kulusevski also played a key role in the race with Barcelona for his signature.
Two years or so on from walking through the doors at Hotspur Way, greeting Ange Postecoglou and Levy, Bergvall now faces an uncertain future. The youngster only featured five times for De Zerbi last season, with a solitary start coming against Sunderland – his first game in charge.

Bergvall came off the bench in each of the next four games before becoming an unused substitute in the last two games of the campaign. According to The Athletic, the Swede has recently informed Spurs officials of his desire to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The report claims that he's attracted 'strong interest' from clubs in England, including Nottingham Forest, and across Europe. During an interview with Fotbollskanalen while away on international duty at the World Cup, Bergvall was asked whether he plans to leave Tottenham.
Without giving too much away, he said: "Right now, I’m just trying to focus on the World Cup. Whatever happens after that, I’ll deal with it then. I’m fully focused on the World Cup."
When pressed for an explanation, Bergvall doubled down and said: "As I said: I’m fully focused on the World Cup."
On whether his agent has contacted Tottenham, he refused to back down. Bergvall replied: "I’m fully focusing on the World Cup. I’m here with Sweden, and we’re going to try to make a good impression in the U.S. Whatever happens after that, we’ll deal with it then."
In a separate interview with Fotbollskanalen ahead of the World Cup in the United States, he said: "It’s not something I’m focusing on right now. It’s been a tough season, as I said. But now the focus is on the World Cup and being here."
On his relationship with De Zerbi, Bergvall said: "I trust that he will field the best team to win the matches. I’m glad we made it. It’s been a tough season for me and the team, with injuries and so on.
"It’s nice to turn the page and focus on the World Cup," he added. "He’s done well. He’s one of the reasons we’re still in the league. It’s clear that he’ll stay. It was only a few games [on the sidelines]."
