Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new sporting director continues to gather pace, with fresh claims now shedding light on the club’s leading target.
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to finalise their search for a new sporting director following the departure of Fabio Paratici a couple of months ago.
Spurs, though, have been linked with a fair few options, including Bournemouth’s Tiago Pinto and Sebastian Kehl, who was previously at Borussia Dortmund but left his sporting director role last month.
Chelsea’s Paul Winstanley and Al-Diriyah’s director Dougie Freedman have also been named as targets for Spurs, but still no deal has been reached.
Tottenham sporting director search latest as Dougie Freedman emerges top target
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now revealed what he knows about the club’s ongoing search for a new sporting director.
When asked about the latest news regarding the appointment, O’Keefe explained that Dougie Freedman is Tottenham’s number one choice.
He also claimed that contact has been made, but there are many variables to consider for Freedman, given that his current deal is worth £3.5m a year.

Sharing the update on X, O Keefe outlined Tottenham’s position and Freedman’s situation, writing: “Dougie Freedman is their No1 choice. They have made contact but there are many variables to consider for him. His current deal is worth £3.5m a year”.
Spurs pursuit of Dougie Freedman continues despite previous setback
While O’Keefe has named Freedman as the club’s number one choice, we reported just a month ago that although Tottenham are keen on landing him, they had already suffered a blow in their pursuit.
It was explained that the former Crystal Palace sporting director has since turned down a move to Tottenham, stating that he does not want a move at this time.
However, going off O’Keefe’s latest reports, it seems Spurs have not backed off in their pursuit of the sporting director, with the summer transfer window now fast approaching.
