Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Bayern Munich regarding the availability of winger Serge Gnabry, according to journalist Christian Falk.

Spurs are in the market for a new forward in the January transfer window after they allowed Brennan Johnson to leave the club to join Crystal Palace. It's been a disappointing campaign for Spurs, who sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Thomas Frank's squad is currently incredibly depleted due to injuries, and there's no doubt they need reinforcements in the coming days to end the season in a strong manner. The Premier League table is still very tight, so there's every chance Spurs can battle for the European places by the end of the campaign if they secure some new additions before Monday's deadline.

According to journalist Falk, Tottenham have recently made contact with Bayern Munich to discover the availability of Gnabry. The German international has informed Spurs that his priority is to remain at Bayern, and he's in talks over a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

Gnabry is set to sign a new two-year deal, which could see his already astronomical wage increase. Falk has previously confirmed that Gnabry currently earns in the region of £330,000-a-week at Bayern, so it will be interesting to see whether he receives a pay rise when he puts pen to paper.

The former Arsenal forward, described as 'world-class' by Vincent Kompany, has been a regular for Bayern this season, playing a total of 14 games in the Bundesliga. The 30-year-old has provided 11 goals and assists in just 10 league starts, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Bayern issued a hands-off warning for the German international.

Tottenham Need to Prioritise a New Winger

After losing Johnson earlier in the window, Spurs need to bring in a new winger before the window slams shut next week. It's been a disappointing season for the north London club, and they desperately need reinforcements if they want to mount a charge to finish in the European places.

A deal for Gnabry appears to be off the table, but Tottenham need to prioritise a new attacker. Tottenham's injury situation has amplified the need for Frank's side to ensure new additions arrive through the door as soon as possible.
