Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue to land an experienced Serie A winger, but they have to see off competition from a Premier League rival to complete the deal.
The central midfield area could see some big changes in the summer, with reports indicating that Yves Bissouma’s time at Spurs could end this summer.
There are also doubts over whether Tottenham will sign Joao Palhinha permanently from Bayern Munich, with the Lilywhites thought to be hesitant to pay the £22m clause.
It has now emerged that Roberto De Zerbi’s men are ready to turn their attention to an experienced number six, who is having a disappointing season in Italy.
Tottenham and Aston Villa leading the race for Youssouf Fofana
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham have entered the race to sign Youssouf Fofana, whose future at AC Milan is in doubt on the back of his disappointing performances this campaign.
The report says that Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have both expressed interest in the 27-year-old, but the player prefers to move to the Premier League over the Super Lig.
The interest is coming from Spurs and Aston Villa, who have both already made offers to Fofana’s entourage ahead of the summer window.

However, it is made clear that Tottenham would only have a shot of landing the France international if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.
How much would Spurs have to pay for Fofana?
Gazzetta say that agreeing personal terms with the midfielder is not likely to be a problem for either the Lilywhites or the Villans.
It is asserted that the deal will come down to whether either club can strike an agreement with Milan, who want to recoup the full €25m (£21.6m) they paid to sign Fofana from Monaco back in 2024.
