Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer worth £86m to sign FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, according to Fichajes.net.

The Lilywhites had a busy summer transfer window which saw them bring in the likes of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani from RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, but the team has struggled so far under Thomas Frank and sit 11th in the Premier League.

Now the club are looking at further reinforcements, with a new number nine seemingly a top priority, and Spain international Samu has now emerged as a top target for the side heading into the new year.

Tottenham 'Table £86m Offer' for Samu

Aghehowa, who has been described as 'one of the most prolific strikers in Europe', has reached great heights with the Portuguese giants since his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.

The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals already this season, adding on to his 25 goals last season, and he attracted major interest from some of Europe's top clubs during the summer, although Porto stood firm on their valuation, pointing all clubs to his €100m (£86m) release clause.

However, it has now emerged that Tottenham would be ready to pay that amount to bring him to north London in 2026 and a report even goes as far as to state that an offer has been tabled.

Porto have made it clear that unless the release clause is met, there is no chance they will sanction an exit for Aghehowa in the January transfer window, which means Spurs may have no choice but to do so if they want to bring him in for the second half of the campaign. However, a deal could potentially be agreed ahead of the summer, which would help Spurs to beat off the competition for his signature.

Tottenham Must Move Quickly for Samu

It's clear that a new striker is something that Spurs should be pushing hard for. Richarlison is the top scorer this season but there are doubts over his long-term future, while Kolo Muani's performances are unlikely to have convinced anyone to make the loan permanent, and Dominic Solanke's injury woes are surely a concern.

A lot of top clubs brought in a new striker last summer which could clear the path a bit for Tottenham to go for Samu, but they are highly unlikely to be able to get a clear run at him such is his quality, and pre-agreeing a deal in January could be their best bet.

An £86m offer is absolutely no joke and if they are ready to pay, then Porto will certainly be ready to do business, and it may just finally give them their Harry Kane replacement.
