Roberto De Zerbi is Tottenham's first choice to replace under-pressure Thomas Frank as head coach, according to reports from Teamtalk.
The Spurs boss is facing serious scrutiny after picking up just two wins in their last 12 games, a sequence of results that has left them in 14th position in the table.
Frank is under additional pressure as a result of drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup in the build-up to Tottenham's 3-2 defeat against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
As a result, Spurs could be looking for a new boss before long with De Zerbi among the names on their hitlist.
Tottenham Want Roberto De Zerbi
Tottenham are compiling a shortlist of potential new managers with Roberto De Zerbi regarded as a top contender for the role. As per the reports from Teamtalk, there are no immediate plans to dismiss Frank, but there's an acceptance that things could change.
De Zerbi, who has been described as a 'world-class' coach by former player Adam Lallana, and also 'one of the best coaches', is currently in charge at Ligue 1 giants Marseille, after a successful spell in charge of Brighton in the Premier League.
During his time with the Seagulls he was considered for the Manchester United job in the summer of 2024. However, the Red Devils opted to appoint Erik ten Hag instead.
Linked with the Old Trafford job again this time around, De Zerbi could be a contender to replace Ruben Amorim on a permanent basis in the summer. Reports have emerged that the 46-year-old wants to replace Amorim as the manager in the summer, and would even be willing to quit his current role at Marseille to make it happen.
De Zerbi Could Be Excellent At Spurs
If Tottenham do decide to pursue a move for Roberto De Zerbi, it could prove to be an absolute masterstroke.
The Italian boss was hugely impressive during his time with Brighton as he turned them into one of the most exciting and complete teams in the Premier League. Known for his fiery persona, that perhaps detracts from just how talented a coach he is..
If Tottenham are looking for a boss who can play attack-minded football, entertain supporters and spark a reaction from their players, De Zerbi could be the perfect solution. However, with Marseille third in Ligue 1 and competing in the Champions League, he may be tempted to see out the season with the French giants to see what they can achieve.
