Tottenham Hotspur have made a surprise enquiry to sign Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams this summer.
After an action-packed first month of the summer transfer window that saw them confirm six big signings, it has unsurprisingly gone a bit quiet at Tottenham in recent days.
Spurs have already transformed their defence and midfield engine room with half-a-dozen new faces, and now focus has switched to boosting Roberto De Zerbi's attack.
Of course, securing deals for forward players can often take longer than in other positions because of demand and asking prices, with Fabrizio Romano already confirming that Tottenham's top winger target is the same one they had 12 months ago, Manchester City's Savinho.
The north Londoners have been linked with other wide players such as Antonio Nusa of RB Leipzig and AC Milan's Rafael Leao, but it is the Brazilian with Premier League experience who is their number one choice to bolster the left flank.
Spurs are also considering bringing in a new centre-forward to provide competition for Dominic Solanke and Richarlison next term, with the latter potentially leaving having long been linked with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi appears to be the top target there, but a move for Williams at Forest would be a surprise.
Tottenham Make Neco Williams Enquiry
One position Tottenham do look to be well-stocked in right now is the full-back area.
On the left-hand side, they have new signing Andy Robertson competing with Souza and Ben Davies, with Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence also able to play there.
On the opposite flank, Pedro Porro will be first-choice under De Zerbi next season fresh from committing his long-term future to the north London outfit, while Spence will be back-up there too, and Archie Gray has performed well there too.
However, Spurs have made an enquiry about signing Neco Williams, according to a top Spurs source on X.
The 'outstanding' defender has primarily played left-back for Forest in recent times, but he is also versatile and can play effectively on the right too, but a move makes little sense right now given the depth they have.
Spence is being linked with a move away from the club fresh from his exploits with England at the 2026 World Cup, so perhaps interest in Williams could become more concrete should he depart.
Arsenal Overtake Tottenham in Junior Kroupi Race
Tottenham are said to have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Junior Kroupi from Bournemouth this summer, with one outlet suggesting that they have been overtaken by arch-rivals Arsenal in the bid to land the exciting Frenchman.
The Cherries are determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old after a stunning breakthrough Premier League season in which he scored 13 goals in 33 top flight appearances.
Bournemouth are said to value the striker sensation at the £100m mark which, according to Football Insider, could price Tottenham out of a move given the business they have already done this summer.
