Tottenham Hotspur have found their Ange Postecoglou replacement in Thomas Frank. The manager made a name for himself at Brentford and was responsible for the remarkable transformation in the club's fortunes over the last few years. After initially arriving at the side as an assistant manager, he was promoted to head coach in October 2018 with the Bees in the Championship.

They were languishing in the middle of the table when he took over and hadn't played in the top flight of English football since 1947, but he turned things around for the team and they have been flying as of late. During his time with the club, Frank oversaw 317 matches in charge of Brentford, winning 136 of them and becoming one of the longest reigning managers in the Premier League. Tottenham have landed a very promising manager and one who will have the opportunity to compete in the Champions League for the first team next season.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Thomas Frank won 42.9% of his matches as Brentford manager

Frank knows how to get the best out of his players and his brutal pre-season training drill became a staple during his time at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Frank's 1km Pre-Season Training Drill

Spurs players won't be looking forward to this

To prepare his team for the upcoming Premier League season and to ensure his players are in the best possible shape for the year, Frank has them take part in a brutal 1km pre-season training drill. During his stint with Brentford, the club posted a video of the drill on social media and it doesn't look like fun.

The 1km challenge is a straightforward one. Players simply have to run back and forth until they've travelled for a full kilometre. The aim is to try and complete the challenge as fast as possible and while athletes tend to start it in swift fashion, by the end, fatigue has set in and you're likely to find them gaping for breath. Just look at the video above, for example. Once the challenge is completed, the Brentford players are left lying on the ground, completely drained of energy.

It's a brutal way to welcome them back from their summer breaks and kicks off pre-season with a bang. With the Champions League on the horizon for Tottenham next season, they'll want to make sure they prepare properly for the upcoming campaign and are in the best possible shape when things get underway in August. Starting with Frank's ruthless 1k challenge will put them in an excellent position to do so.
