Tottenham Hotspur fans will love what an Argentine outlet is reporting about the future of Cristian Romero after Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou.
According to reports, Atletico Madrid are continuing to push to land Romero this summer, and that was confirmed a few days ago when Diego Simeone publicly expressed his admiration for the Tottenham man.
It was previously reported that Romero would do everything possible to leave Spurs in light of Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.
The Tottenham vice-captain is not too happy with the club’s decision to let go of the Australian, with Romero publicly praising Postecoglou just hours after Thomas Frank’s appointment was confirmed.
Thomas Frank’s arrival may convince Cristian Romero to say
However, a new report in TyC Sports has now talked up Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of hanging onto their vice-captain.
The outlet claims that Frank’s appointment could be a key factor which may convince the Argentina international to remain in N17.
It is suggested that the Dane’s arrival could be a ‘breath of fresh air’ for Spurs after their 17th-place finish last season, with the Lilywhites now getting started on a brand new project.
MORE SPURS STORIES
With Tottenham back in the Champions League next season, it is suggested that these factors could lead to Romero ‘deciding to stay’ at Spurs for one more season.
Will Cristian Romero sign a new contract?
According to reports over recent weeks, Tottenham are pulling out all the stops to tie Romero down to a new contract, with the centre-back now having just two years left on his deal.
However, it has been suggested by a few sources that Spurs may cash in on Romero this summer if he refuses to extend his deal.
That does not mean that the North Londoners would let the 27-year-old leave on the cheap, with Tottenham expected to hold firm on their £60m asking price for the centre-back.
