Tottenham’s January transfer window is finally kicking into gear.

With Thomas Frank retaining the support of Tottenham’s hierarchy for now, Spurs are hoping to enjoy a strong final few weeks of the winter window.

Tottenham have hijacked Aston Villa’s move for Conor Gallagher, with the former Chelsea midfielder now finalising his switch to N17.

Meanwhile, Spurs have been touted with a potential £40million-plus swoop for Yan Diomande, but Tottenham may face competition from Liverpool for the 19-year-old Leipzig forward.

Tottenham medical taking place for Brazilian defender Souza

Frank is hoping to welcome a handful more new faces to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the winter sales end, and he’s been handed another major breakthrough in his pursuit of a highly-rated young defender.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Santos left-back Souza has been strongly linked with Tottenham; a player hailed as “very impressive” by South American football expert Tim Vickery.

Tottenham are believed to have had a bid in the region of £13m accepted for the 19-year-old, despite him having a reported release clause of £87.1m for overseas clubs.

And, after a couple of days of relative silence regarding the progression of the deal, a post from Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe via X on Wednesday has reported that Souza is undergoing his Spurs medical today.

Why Souza could walk straight into Tottenham starting XI

Despite having only made 38 senior appearances for Santos, Tottenham’s current left-back situation could see Souza drafted into a key role in Frank’s side from the get-go.

The future of Destiny Udogie is firmly up in the air, with the 23-year-old out of favour under Frank, whilst Djed Spence continues to struggle finding consistency in his performances.

That leaves just 32-year-old Ben Davies as the only other option at left-back, but with the Welshman out of contract in the summer, he isn’t a long-term solution in that position.

So, Frank may well feel inclined to throw Souza in the deep end, and if he can swim in the Premier League straight away, then Spurs will feel confident they’ve found their future on the left flank of defence.
