The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has made a transfer deadline day move to Italy to join one of his former team-mates
Pape Matar Sarr has posted a heartfelt message to Tottenham Hotspur after sealing his move to Juventus on transfer deadline day.
The 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs after the £185million swoop for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes from Newcastle and West Ham respectively. Roberto De Zerbi told football.london that the Senegal international had asked to leave the club.
Sarr had interest from clubs in France and Turkey but ultimately made the move to link-up with Guglielmo Vicario at Juventus. The midfielder sealed a loan move that will turn into a permanent transfer if he meets performance related conditions. The loan itself will cost Juventus £2.4million and then the permanent transfer would cost them a further £23.5million.
Spurs signed Sarr from Metz five years ago before loaning him back to the French club for a season. He played 141 games for the club, with 11 goals and 11 assists and one of his best performances came in the Europa League final victory against Manchester United last year.
On Tuesday he wrote on Instagram: "Thank you, Tottenham, for all the wonderful years we've spent together. A special thank you to the fans for their incredible support and love. See you again very soon."
