Ange Postecoglou's days at Tottenham Hotspur will likely hinge on securing a place in the final of the Europa League on Thursday evening, as his side take on Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt in the Arctic Circle - knowing that a loss in their semi-final second leg could spell the end of his time in north London.

It has been a poor campaign for the Australian boss, with his side massively faltering in the Premier League by currently sitting in 16th place in the table when they finished fifth last time out - and with an early exit from the FA Cup, only their run to the League Cup semi-final and their endeavours in Europe have saved his skin. But a loss to Bodo/Glimt, and thus ruling out a 17-year wait for a trophy alongside a place in the Champions League by virtue of winning the tournament, should see them make a move for Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Marco Silva 'Keen' on Tottenham Job, They Could Act in the Coming Days

The Portuguese manager is thought to want a move to north London

A report by Football Insider earlier in the week stated that Silva is 'keen' to become the next Tottenham manager if they decide to part ways with Postecoglou - and should Spurs lose to Bodo/Glimt despite being 3-0 up at one stage in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, that move could progress much quicker.

Fulham sit 11th in the top-flight, knowing that eighth place will confirm a place in the Europa Conference League should Manchester City win the FA Cup, and only sitting two points behind Bournemouth, that is a distinct possibility.

But if they fail to embark on a continental adventure and Spurs crash out against the Norwegian outfit, Silva should be someone they look to bring in ahead of Postecoglou, especially having been lauded as a 'genius' for his recent efforts on the River Thames.

He took over Fulham in 2021, leading them to the Championship title with some truly remarkable results along the way - scoring seven past Blackburn Rovers and Luton Town at various points in the campaign, whilst a 19-goal haul in just three games in early January saw them finish the campaign with 106 goals to their names in just 46 outings.

Silva's Premier League Form With Fulham has Been Sensational

The Cottagers have fully established themselves as a top-flight outfit

But it's been Silva's form in the Premier League with Fulham over the past three seasons that has seen him stamp his mark in the top-flight, recording famous wins over Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool along the way - recording a 10th-placed finish in their first campaign back, alongside 13th last season and the potential for a top-eight place this time around.

However, Silva has also achieved that by playing attractive football - which shouldn't be underestimated in a league that can be unforgiving. Bringing in players such as Alex Iwobi, Andreas Pereira, Emile Smith Rowe and Sander Berge, the Cottagers have been incredible under the Portuguese boss but budget limitations could mean that he's taken them as far as he can.

And Silva would likely thrive at Tottenham, having learned the ropes at Everton, Watford and Hull City before finally bringing his masterplan together at Fulham. With a bigger pot to spend, he could transform Tottenham into a tough side to beat whilst also faring well on the attacking front.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Marco Silva has won 80 of his 181 games in charge of Fulham.

His daring yet pragmatic nature could be the difference between securing silverware once more, and that could see Spurs massively benefit from his arrival in the long-term.
