Tottenham Hotspur's summer transfer rumour mill will be dominated by which manager they have in the north London hotseat come the start of next season - with Ange Postecoglou's reign in the capital potentially coming to an end.

An abysmal season in the Premier League sees Spurs sitting in 16th place in the top-flight, just one point above 17th-placed West Ham United - and a strong end to the campaign by the Hammers could see Postecoglou's men become the 'worst of the rest', with only the three relegated sides being worse than the Lilywhites. That has made Postecoglou's position untenable, with only their Europa League run saving his bacon in what has been a largely underwhelming season - leading to other managers being touted for the role.

Edin Terzic's Borussia Dortmund Credentials Show He'd be a Good Tottenham Appointment

The German has been strong in both of his spells at the Signal Iduna Park

That has led to reports from Germany that Edin Terzic, the former manager of Borussia Dortmund, would want the gig at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should the Australian gaffer be sacked in the coming weeks - and it's an appointment that would make sense for all parties.

The 42-year-old has only managed Dortmund, over two different spells - but both have been equally successful in their own right. The former West Ham assistant, who was under the guise of Slaven Bilic in his time in the East End, took over the Bundesliga giants in the Covid-stricken 2020/21 campaign on an interim basis - and ended up winning the German Cup that season before being succeeded by Marco Rose at the end of the campaign. But his compatriot struggled and left by mutual consent after just a year, leading Terzic to the permanent role.

He only lost out on the Bundesliga title on goal difference to Bayern Munich after being stunned 2-2 at home to Mainz on the final day, but determined not to let his side down again, he led them to an outstanding Champions League run, only being beaten in the final against Real Madrid - leading to him being called 'incredible' by Dortmund's CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke - before resigning at the end of the campaign.

Free Agent Status Means Tottenham Must go for Terzic

The German wouldn't cost a penny in compensation

Out of work for almost a year now, Terzic is keen to get back into the managerial game - and with Tottenham potentially in the market for a new boss, the young coach could be the ideal pickup. Not only does he want the job, but Terzic would be available on a free - which would be fiscally suited to owner Daniel Levy, as he wouldn't have to fork out compensation for his signature, as opposed to other targets such as Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who continues to be linked.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Terzic scored 23 league goals in 188 appearances in his club career, before retiring aged 31.

Terzic won 75 of his 128 games in charge of Dortmund, only losing 29 in that time - and his attacking style of play would be well suited in the English capital, especially taking over from Postecoglou, who has an 'all or nothing' mantra that has been exposed in large parts this season. Tottenham may not opt for Terzic with other managers who have adapted well to the Premier League being on their radar, but he'd certainly be a strong appointment given his credentials in his homeland.
