Thomas Frank is gearing up for what looks to be a busy summer at Tottenham.
Tottenham announced Mathys Tel’s permanent transfer on Sunday (15 June), but the Dane is still hopeful of bringing in further reinforcements as the transfer window officially reopens for the summer.
However, questions must be resolved over the futures of a handful of Spurs players who are mooted for an exit from Hotspur Way.
Frank must also finalise negotiations for his coaching staff, leaving the 51-year-old with an in-tray brimming with issues to resolve before the start of Spurs’ pre-season tour.
Diego Simeone publicly declares interest in Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero has been linked with an exit from Spurs this summer, with his untimely reaction to Ange Postecoglou’s departure the day Frank’s appointment was announced sending further warning signals.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Atletico Madrid have been the favourites to sign the centre-back, with Diego Simeone making his feelings on Romero known in an interview with DSports after their Club World Cup fixture against Paris Saint-Germain (15 June).
Romero’s compatriot stated, “Do I want Cuti Romero? Of course. He’s such a great player.”
This public admission will serve to further fuel the speculation that the World Cup winner’s time in North London is drawing to a close.
Marcus Rashford willing to take pay cut to join Tottenham
A deal between Tottenham and Manchester United could prove difficult after Daniel Levy opened legal proceedings against INEOS.
Nevertheless, Marcus Rashford has emerged as a potential target for the Lilywhites after it was reported by Caught Offside (16 June) that the England international would be willing to take a pay cut to leave the Red Devils.
The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, and could be interested in a move to Hotspur Way this summer after falling out with United manager Ruben Amorim.
Frank to meet Son Heung-min for crunch talks over his future
Spurs captain Son Heung-min has been warming to a move away from Tottenham after delivering the Lilywhites their first piece of silverware in 17 years.
According to Jason Lee (16 June), the South Korean icon is now set for crunch talks with Frank over his Spurs future.
Frank is eager to meet with the skipper ahead of making any final decisions with the player or the club.
