Tottenham Hotspur are among the top European clubs keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Lilywhites splashed the cash in the summer to add Kota Takai, Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to their squad, but new manager Thomas Frank is still keen to make further additions in the winter market to give his side the best chance of success going forward.
A new forward is said to be seen as a priority, amid question marks over the Tottenham futures of Richarlison, Kolo Muani, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson, and they have now identified a candidate for the role.
Tottenham Want to Sign Yan Diomande
Diomande, who has been described as an 'incredible talent', only moved to RB Leipzig in the summer from La Liga outfit Leganes, but has ripped up the Bundesliga since his arrival with six goals and two assists in ten top-flight starts.
The Ivorian has now been valued at aroud £86m by Leipzig ahead of a potential exit in the summer of 2026, and that hasn't put off the likes of Tottenham from keeping a close eye on his situation.
Plettenberg reports that there have been no concrete or advanced talks with any club yet, however, a move after the 2026 World Cup hasn't been ruled out. Diomande is under contract until 2030 and has no release clause.
Diomande Would Take Spurs to Next Level
While Spurs did plenty of good business in the transfer window in the summer, they have had issues on the pitch with the team playing the way Frank wants them to, which has led to some unrest with the fans.
But the signing of a genuinely top-class left-winger, who has superstar potential, would help take the team to the next level, and would be a real statement from the board that they are ready to push the club forward.
Diomande is being courted by some of the world's biggest sides, but Tottenham would be able to offer him a guaranteed starting spot in his favourite position, which could help things in negotiations, and it's now evident that they are ready to make their move and break their club record to get him through the door.
