Spurs Web can exclusively reveal that Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to sign Mohammed Kudus by West Ham United.
Kudus managed just the nine goal contributions from 35 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers last season, but was one of their brighter performers in a disappointing campaign which saw them finish in fourteenth place in the Premier League table.
It was reported on Wednesday that Tottenham could plan a move to sign Kudus from their London rivals before the window closes.
Following the appointment of Thomas Frank as head coach, Tottenham are now working on their transfer activity for the season ahead, where they are looking to build upon last season’s Europa League success, but also to reinforce the quality within the first-team squad in order to compete on multiple fronts which includes a return to the Champions League.
Injuries to key players impacted Ange Postecoglou’s ability to field a strong side in both the Premier League and Europa League, with the Australian deciding that European matches were to take priority in terms of team selection from January.
Mohammed Kudus has been offered to Tottenham
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs exclusively told Spurs Web that while Tottenham have been given the opportunity to sign the Ghanaian international, no offer from the North Londoners is imminent at this time.
However, Spurs Web can confirm that should Tottenham look to move forward with any interest, they could face competition from Chelsea, who may hold the upper hand in any negotiations.
MORE SPURS STORIES
West Ham’s current financial situation has meant they are open to a sale this summer, with both Tottenham and Manchester United aware they may be able to land him for a fee less than his £85m release clause for Premier League clubs.
If Kudus was to depart the London Stadium this summer, the Hammers would prefer it to be for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, who hold concrete interest in the 24-year-old; however, it is uncertain whether the player would be interested in a move.
Spurs could land Kudus for less than his £85m release clause
Jacobs told Spurs Web: “West Ham have offered Mohammed Kudus to several clubs. There is a realistic chance he leaves this summer.
“Kudus has three release clauses: £80m for European clubs, £85m for Premier League sides and £120m for Saudi suitors. Chelsea have Kudus on their list and are deciding whether to make a move. The advantage they may have is that West Ham hold an interest in both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Robert Sanchez.
“Manchester United and Tottenham are aware Kudus could be available for below his clause, but I am not aware of any formal bids for Kudus yet. Keep an eye on the Kudus situation, though. West Ham would prefer to sell before the financial year ends and I think bidding clubs may take advantage of that by offering a number well below his release clauses.
“We have had some reports suggesting a Spurs bid is imminent. That’s not quite what I have heard, but it is true Kudus has been offered to the club. The idea situation for West Ham would be a big Al-Nassr bid, and their interest is concrete, but it remains to be seen if Kudus is keen on Saudi.”
