Tottenham have opened talks to sign yet another midfielder alongside West Ham star Mateus Fernandes and Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali in the summer transfer window.
After solving their defensive problems by bringing in Jan-Paul Van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, and Andy Robertson, Spurs are now focusing on bringing in new midfielders.
Tottenham have held talks to sign Newcastle midfielder Tonali, with the Italian star agreeing personal terms as he wants to make the move to North London.
Reports have also suggested that Tottenham are very close to agreeing personal terms with Fernandes, hinting that he is keen on joining Spurs.
Roberto De Zerbi's side clearly want to add further bodies in the middle of the park, and they are currently linked with a host of different midfielders.
Tottenham Open Talks for Another Midfielder
According to a report from an Italian outlet, Corriere della Sera (via TEAMtalk), Tottenham have now opened talks to sign Roma midfielder Manu Kone and are assessing a potential £40m move in the summer transfer window.
Kone is believed to be keeping his options open over his next move, but he is attracted by the prospect of joining Tottenham.
The French midfielder would be better value than the likes of Tonali and Fernandes, who could cost £100m and £80m respectively.
Kone, who has been described as monstrous, is currently at the World Cup with France. He started in the middle of the park against Iraq last time out.
The tournament could see further interest in the player develop if he enjoys an impressive World Cup.
Midfield Signings Could See Players Leave
With Tottenham targeting a host of different midfielders in the summer transfer window, this could lead to some of their current options heading through the exit door.
According to reliable reporter David Ornstein, young midfielder Lucas Bergvall has already informed Tottenham that he wants to leave the club in search of a new opportunity.
With Spurs targeting midfield reinforcements, the Swedish midfielder could find it difficult to break into the starting eleven on a regular basis.
It's unclear whether Spurs will sanction an exit, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see their stance soften if they get deals over the line for some of the midfielders linked.
