Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a surprise swoop for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku in what could be one of the most unexpected moves of the summer window.
Following their recent success in the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur would be looking to attract top players as they aim to compete with some of Europe’s elite in the UEFA Champions League next season.
The club has been linked with several players, including Angel Gomes, heading into the summer window, which is expected to open earlier than usual.
However, the latest rumour linking them with a Chelsea player might catch some by surprise, as it is being reported that Tottenham are eyeing a move for a Chelsea forward who has struggled to make his mark during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham plan Christopher Nkunku transfer swoop from Chelsea
This report comes from Fichajes, who have stated that Spurs are planning a shock move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.
According to the publication, Tottenham are said to be willing to negotiate a loan deal for Nkunku with Chelsea, including a €45million (£38m) option to buy the forward.
The report also claims that this proposal could appeal to Chelsea, who are keen to offload the player after an underwhelming campaign, as they look to recoup part of their investment.

Spurs face competition for Christopher Nkunku from Juventus and Bayern Munich
However, while Fichajes are reporting a potential move from Tottenham, TeamTalk have stated that the story from the Spanish outlet should be taken with a “pinch of salt.”
According to the British publication, they have claimed that “Fichajes is not one of the most reliable sources,” and although a move away from Stamford Bridge is possible this summer, it is very unlikely that the Frenchman ends up at Hotspur Way.
TeamTalk have added that Juventus have already opened contact with Chelsea over a summer deal for Nkunku, while Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in the 27-year-old.
Bayern Munich are said to be admirers of Nkunku too and have looked into the possibility of securing a deal for the former RB Leipzig forward.
