Tottenham’s interest in Antoine Semenyo is reported to have taken a hit, with Bournemouth’s steep asking price proving to be a major stumbling block in talks.

Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo has been one of the players linked with Tottenham this summer, as the Lilywhites look to strengthen their forward line.

Semenyo was even labelled as an alternative to Bryan Mbeumo, who is said to be favouring a move to Manchester United instead of Spurs this summer window, despite the potential of linking up with Thomas Frank once more.

The Bournemouth winger certainly impressed last season for the Cherries, scoring eleven goals and registering five assists in 37 Premier League appearances – a career best return.

Tottenham enquire about Antoine Semenyo but price proves a hurdle

The Athletic have now provided a further update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Semenyo this summer window.

It is reported that Spurs have made an enquiry to Bournemouth about the wide forward, but are not proceeding with a move for Semenyo at present.

The 25-year-old is believed to be open to a switch to North London; however, Bournemouth’s valuation has seemingly stalled any immediate movement from Spurs, while also cooling interest from other potential suitors, including Manchester United.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is understood that the Cherries are demanding a fee in excess of £65 million, as they are in no desperate need to sell the player.

Spurs also tracking Mohammed Kudus amid Semenyo stance

Of course, Tottenham have other options on their list, and yesterday we reported that West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus is a player that is also being considered at Tottenham.

The Ghanaian international is also reported to have a steep release clause, with £85 million the figure set for Premier League sides looking to secure his services.

However, it has been claimed that a lower fee, around the region of £50 million, could be negotiated, especially if West Ham United are desperate not to breach PSR rules.

Indeed, Spurs are not the only ones keeping tabs on the West Ham man, as Chelsea, Manchester United, and clubs in Saudi Arabia are also monitoring the winger’s situation. It remains to be seen if Tottenham puts in a bid for the Ghanaian winger.
