Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Monaco rising star Maghnes Akliouche in January, according to reports.
The north London side are looking to add a new wide player to Thomas Frank’s squad this month and have identified Akliouche as another potential option.
Spurs were reportedly in attendance to watch the 23-year-old on Saturday during Monaco’s 3-1 defeat to Lyon, as they look to step up their interest in the forward.
Akliouche is viewed as a player with a very high ceiling and was the subject of interest from Tottenham during the summer transfer window, but discussions failed to progress.
Spurs Eyeing Move for Maghnes Akliouche
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs have been closely following Akliouche this season and are believed to be pushing to sign the France international this month.
The north London side could decide to make crucial steps towards the 23-year-old’s arrival in the coming days, with Akliouche more open to a move amid Monaco’s difficult season.
The Monegasque side sit just ninth in the Ligue 1 standings after 17 games, having lost six of their last seven matches in the competition.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Akliouche has won five senior caps for France to date, scoring once.
Akliouche, dubbed as 'insane', has been one of Monaco’s best players this campaign, registering five goal contributions in 16 league appearances and starting 15 times.
It is believed the 23-year-old, an excellent dribbler ‘like Eberechi Eze’, would command a fee north of £50m, with Monaco in a strong negotiating position as Akliouche’s contract runs until the summer of 2028.
Tottenham Looking to Replace Brennan Johnson
Tottenham’s reported interest in Akliouche is hardly surprising, given the depleted attacking options Frank is operating with in north London this season.
The Danish tactician has yet to field the injured Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, while Dominic Solanke also remains unavailable after making just three appearances.
Spurs have also lost Mohammed Kudus to injury last weekend and sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace in a club-record £35m deal for the Selhurst Park side.
Last season’s top scorer, Johnson made just seven league starts under Frank before his departure and has already featured for Palace in their 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Sunday.
Tottenham ‘Crazy’ About Yan Diomande
Tottenham are also believed to be among a host of Premier League and European clubs keeping tabs on RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande.
