Tottenham Hotspur are busy trying to seal a deal for Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, and while the Premier League underdogs are doing all they can, to the point where they are threatening legal action against Spurs, there's a prevailing belief among transfer insiders that the 25-year-old will be in North London sooner rather than later.
Spurs aren't anchoring on Gibbs-White, though, because even though he is their weapon of choice to combine with West Ham signing Mohammed Kudus as a two-headed beast of summer 2025 attacking transfers, they are showing cursory interest in an even bolder attacking midfield acquisition from an even bigger Premier League club.
According to a report from the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler, Tottenham have joined the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa as among the clubs looking at Manchester United attacking midfielder - and occasional winger - Alejandro Garnacho, who has made iet clear that he wants a new challenge away from Old Trafford. And it doesn't seem like United are averse to the incredibly talented but infuriatingly inconsistent No. 10 from leaving.
Not a real Morgan Gibbs-White alternative
The main attacking midfield spot at Manchester United has been occupied by Bruno Fernandes, one of the most productive playmakers in world football over the last five years, and while there is an opening for two No. 10's under new manager Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese coach doesn't seem particularly enthralled with Garnacho.
If Garnacho is some sort of a Gibbs-White alternative, then he isn't being met positively as such by Spurs fans. They see through Garnacho as a petulant 21-year-old playmaker who probably needs to join a club that is a step down from Man United and, by extension, Tottenham, who just beat United in the Europa League Final.
But like Jadon Sancho, Garnacho doesn't seem interested in making a step down in wages and perceived status to join a club like Napoli, whose own advances for the player have been rejected by Manchester United despite fair offers in the 50 million euro range.
At this rate, Garnacho is highly unlikely to join Tottenham. Their focus is on Gibbs-White, and Garnacho isn't the tactical player that MGW is in the Thomas Frank system. At the same time, perhaps Spurs supporters shouldn't be so cold on Garnacho, whose incredible raw talents and upside could make him a worthwhile punt from Manchester United at the right price. Frank has done more with less in his managerial career, and the chance to make Man United hurt is a doubly good incentive.
