With less than a week before the new 2026/27 Premier League season starts, Tottenham still have business to do in the transfer market.
Roberto De Zerbi has done well to transform the squad he inherited from Igor Tudor already this summer, bringing in six new faces and letting 11 players leave - nine permanently and one on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer.
But all of the work on incoming signings has been made at the back or in midfield, with no new faces arriving in the forward line, yet. De Zerbi remains keen on improving his attack at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a number of players linked with a move to the club.
Savinho has been the most heavily linked, with Spurs in talks with Manchester City to sign the Brazilian as far back as last summer, when they thought they would get a deal over the line but the rug was pulled from under them at the last moment.
Spurs have also been linked with a move for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, with reports surfacing that the Dutchman has asked to leave the Reds to make the move to Spurs after talks between the two clubs.
Savinho and Gakpo would both be wide additions and De Zerbi remains keen on another central striker too, particularly with question marks over the future of Richarlison, who scored again in pre-season against Hoffenheim on Saturday.
De Zerbi remains unsure whether the Brazilian will stay in N17 this season or not and a reliance on just him and Dominic Solanke would be a gamble too.
I like him as a player and as a guy. He's unbelievable in terms of attitude and behaviour. But, in the end, we have to respect what he wants to do. I didn't understand well because sometimes he says he wants to stay, sometimes he wants to leave. We have to speak anyway. There is not any problem. He's a lovely guy.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs' idea is to sign Savinho, Gakpo and a No.9 too, although the identity of that central striker is as yet unknown.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "For Tottenham, I keep telling you guys, Savinho and Gakpo, Gakpo and Savinho, Savinho and Gakpo, plus a center striker. This is the idea at Tottenham.
"Pedro Neto is a backup in case something happens for Savinho, something happens for Gakpo, Pedro Neto is a backup, but he's not the top priority."
