Tottenham Hotspur are ready to go toe-to-toe with rivals Arsenal over a big-money deal to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers this summer, according to a club insider.
Spurs have had an incredible summer of business so far, bringing in all of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali to bolster Roberto De Zerbi's squad for the new season.
But the club are prioritising a move to bring in new forwards now, and after being linked with a host of names, they are now ready to enter the race for England star Rogers.
Tottenham Ready to Hijack Rogers Move
Rogers, who has been described as 'world-class', has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal this summer, with Mikel Arteta making the Villa playmaker his top target for the left-wing position.
The Midlands club don't want to sell their star forward, who hit 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last season, and have slapped a £130m asking price on his head to deter interested parties. He signed a new long-term contract last year too, meaning they are in complete control of his future.
However, with Arsenal preparing to table an offer worth around £90m, and being willing to go up to £100m, there is a belief they could drop their price as they know that Rogers is keen on the move.
But it has now emerged that Spurs are ready to enter the race and are watching the situation closely.
Insider 'Himothy Reports', via TEAMtalk, who has leaked news about the club in the past, reports that Spurs are ready to make their own move to fill their attacking hole with the 23-year-old, and they're ready to pay big money to get it done.
It remains unclear if Rogers would be open to the move, or if Villa would be open to selling for less than the £130m price tag, but Spurs have shown they are prepared to pay what it takes to get their targets this summer, and Rogers is now on their list.
Tottenham Would Make Major Statement
Tottenham have already made some big statements in the window this summer, breaking their transfer record twice, and with more to come.
But a deal for Rogers would really be the cherry on top, because it would show that the project they are building is attractive to players already at the top of their game.
Rogers already has Champions League football this season with Villa, and has the current reigning champions chasing him. But if Spurs are able to muscle their way into a deal and get it done, it would show they are a genuine threat to the title for the coming season.
