Tottenham Hotspur breathed a huge sigh of relief last weekend as they secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win over Everton.
Relegation to the Championship would have been nothing short of a disaster for Spurs but the club can now start planning for another season of top-flight football.
Roberto De Zerbi's side stayed up at the expense of London rivals West Ham United, who head back to the second tier after 14 years in the Premier League.
The club's relegation is set to trigger an exodus of several big-name stars. The Hammers need to raise at least £100million from player sales and cut down their wage bill.
Tottenham eye move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka
One Irons player strongly linked with an exit is Aaron Wan-Bissaka. It was reported in recent days that Everton were eyeing a cut-price £10million deal for the defender as they seek to bolster their options at right-back.
Wan-Bissaka is on a reported £90,000-a-week at West Ham. His wages mean the Irons are open to selling the ex-Manchester United player.
However, the Toffees are not alone in the race for the 28-year-old.
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are keen on the player and have actively expressed an interest. They are said to admire his 'defensive reliability and versatility'.
Wan-Bissaka has been a regular under several managers at West Ham since his £15million move in 2024. He is under contract at the London Stadium until 2031, having penned a seven-year deal when he joined the club.
The defender is poised to feature at the World Cup this summer having been named in DR Congo's 26-man squad. They will face Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan in the group stage.
Tottenham must be shrewd in summer transfer window
Tottenham qualified for the Champions League last campaign after winning the Europa League in 2025. However, there has been no alternative route into Europe for the North London outfit this time around.
It means Spurs will need to be shrewd in the transfer market as they will head into the 2026/27 campaign without any guaranteed income from European competitions.
Wan-Bissaka has made 233 appearances in the Premier League and will provide reliability and experience if Spurs were to bring him on board.
And for the price of just £10million, it is a deal that represents good value for the North London club.
Pedro Porro is Spurs' current first-choice right-back while Djed Spence can provide cover in the position, although he is primarily a left-back.
Wan-Bissaka could provide strong competition for places if he was to make the short move across London while also being a highly-dependable back-up to Porro.
