Tottenham Hotspur are now set to enter talks to sign Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo, and they are waiting to understand the demands of the Ligue 1 club before making an offer, according to French outlet L'Equipe.

It could be an incredibly busy summer transfer window for Spurs after a mixed season under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager delivered a trophy and Champions League football, but their performances in the Premier League were far from acceptable, leading to him being sacked.

Spurs finished in 17th place, just one place above the relegation zone, and they will be thankful that the bottom three sides struggled so much. Just 38 points while suffering 22 losses is unacceptable for a club of Tottenham's stature, and reinforcements will be necessary if they want to start competing in the top half of the table again.

Tottenham Set to Enter Talks for Arnaud Kalimuendo

They are waiting to place an offer

According to a report from French outlet L'Equipe, Tottenham are now ready to make contact with Rennes regarding a move to sign Kalimuendo. It's understood that Spurs are waiting to understand Rennes' demands before making an official offer, but there is clear interest from the Premier League side who are set to step up their pursuit.

Despite being just 23 years old, Kalimuendo has a strong goalscoring record at senior level. The French forward has hit double figures for goals in each of his last two campaigns in the league, hitting a total of 53 strikes in Ligue 1 in 156 games.

Dominic Solanke is likely to lead the line under new manager Thomas Frank, considering Spurs invested a lot of money in him, but they could certainly do with some competition and cover in that position. Kalimuendo, described as a 'real killer' in front of goal by analyst Ben Mattinson, who also compared him to Sergio Aguero, could be an ideal addition as he's already making an impact at a young age.
