Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a late move to sign Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz, before using him in a different position.
Tottenham have already made seven signings this summer as they look to improve on successive 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League, with an eighth player in Omar Marmoush due to undergo a medical today to complete his switch to Spurs.
Roberto De Zerbi still wants to add one more player to his attack, with Liverpool's Cody Gakpo the preferred target, although the other position where they look short in the squad being at right-back.
Following Djed Spence's exit, Pedro Porro is the undoubted number one choice for the spot, having signed a new long-term contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, but there is little quality in depth beyond the World Cup winner.
De Zerbi has suggested that a new player is unlikely to arrive, with Archie Gray able to provide competition for the position, as he did when he started against Brentford on Saturday.
Whether the 3-0 defeat will see the Italian reconsider his options remains to be seen, but according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, they do hold an interest in Eagles star Munoz.
However, Everton are seen as more active than Spurs for a deal before the September 1 deadline, as they are in club-to-club talks with their Premier League rivals over a move for the experienced 30-year-old.
Tottenham Ready to Use Munoz as a Winger
Even if they complete the signing of Marmoush, it is no secret that De Zerbi still wants another forward to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by next Tuesday.
While Gakpo remains the top target, the Italian coach could kill two birds with one stone with a deal for Munoz.
According to Sierra, Tottenham's plan for the Colombia international is to utilise him as a winger, despite the fact he has played as either a right-back or right-winger for their London neighbours.
It wouldn't be a surprise decision given his attacking output for Palace, as he is clearly a player who can make a big difference in the final third for Spurs, which is much needed after what we saw at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The benefit of having Munoz in the squad is that he would be able to play right-back when Porro is unable to, meaning he would be a very useful final signing of the window for the team and De Zerbi.
We know that the Italian loves players with Premier League experience, with all eight of his signings this summer having played in the English top flight, and Munoz is another example of that.
