Tottenham Hotspur have received an update on the future of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Lilywhites.
According to reports from Italy, Guglielmo Vicario has already agreed personal terms with Inter Milan ahead of a potential £17m switch to the San Siro in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur will thus need to sign a new number one this summer, and a French international is thought to be on their summer wishlist.
It was reported last month that Spurs are keen to poach Lucas Chevalier this summer, just a year on from the goalkeeper’s switch from Lille to PSG.
A new report in RMC Sport has now provided an update on Chevalier, who has served as a backup to Matvey Safonov over recent months.
The 24-year-old has not started a game for PSG since their 1-0 win over Auxerre on January 23rd, but it is revealed that Luis Enrique could give him a start in one of the club’s two upcoming clashes against FC Nantes and Angers.
The report says that this will boost Chevalier’s chances of making it into France’s World Cup squad this summer.
MORE SPURS STORIES
It is explained that once the season comes to a close, the former Lille man will analyse his debut campaign in Paris and will also wait from a decision from the club’s hierarchy.
The outlet claims that Tottenham have made contact to ask about the goalkeeper’s situation, and the France international could study the proposals that come his way this summer if his situation at PSG does not change over the coming weeks.
Spurs suffer blow in pursuit of another Ligue 1 goalkeeper
Chevalier is not the only Ligue 1 shot-stopper in Tottenham’s sights, with reports indicating that Spurs are also plotting a move for Lens’ Robin Risser.
However, last week, Risser dealt a blow to Tottenham by making it clear that he does not want a summer move.
The 21-year-old, who has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the French top-flight this term, asserted that he is convinced that he will still be at Stade Bollaert-Delelis next season.
