Tottenham have rejected a bid for Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall, according to reports.

Spurs have already undergone a major overhaul in the summer transfer window, with new head coach Roberto De Zerbi adding six new signings to the squad he inherited when he arrived in north London at the end of March.

Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, defenders Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke and midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have all arrived for a combined £237million outlay this summer.

And it is those two big-money midfielder signings that have led to question marks over Bergvall's future at the club.

Bergvall has been one of Spurs' standout stars in difficult seasons

Tottenham beat off stiff competition from the likes of Barcelona to sign the Swede in an £8.5million deal in 2024 when he was just 18.

He went on to complete a clean sweep of the club's Player of the Season awards in the 2024/25 campaign that ended with Spurs winning the UEFA Europa League but finishing 17th in the Premier League.

Alongside fellow teenager Archie Gray, the duo were expected to be at the heart of the Spurs side for many years to come, but Bergvall may well be on the move this summer.

Reports have suggested that the 20-year-old has asked to leave the club, with uncertainty around the amount of game time he will get under De Zerbi, given the huge outlay on midfielder signings this summer. De Zerbi has reportedly allayed any fears he may have, but there remain question marks over his immediate future.

Now the Telegraph report that Spurs have rejected a £38million bid from Nottingham Forest for the talented central midfielder, with new boss Oliver Glasner keen to add reinforcements following Elliot Anderson's £116million move to Manchester City.

Spurs have set out their price tag for the Swedish international

Tottenham are understood to be demanding in the region of £50million to sanction the sale of the Swedish star, with the Telegraph reporting that Forest will return to the north Londoners with an improved bid of £45million to test the waters further.

If they can conclude a deal, Bergvall would become Forest's record signing, surpassing the £37.5million they spent on Omari Hutchinson last summer.

After a 1-0 win over Man City in 2025, then City boss Pep Guardiola described the Swede as "unstoppable". Bergvall responded to that priase by admitting: "Of course it’s fun, but in the big picture it doesn’t really matter. I just try to play football and develop all the time and help the team. It’s always fun to get praise and you should take it in. But I try not to put too much emphasis on it.”
