Tottenham Women suffered a disappointing season in 2024-25, not helped by injuries to Luana Buhler.
Much like their male counterparts, the women’s team failed to perform as well as the talent on paper suggested.
They finished 11th in the Women’s Super League, one place above the relegation zone.
This cost manager Robert Vilahamn his Tottenham job, with the Swede paying the ultimate price for his team’s failures.
It is hoped that the team will be able to improve under a new coach next season.

Luana Buhler ruled out of Euro 2025 tournament
Spurs Women were weakened by a number of injuries throughout the season, including knee problems suffered by Buhler.
The Swiss defender missed the final four games of Spurs’ season with this injury, and it always looked like she’d struggle to play in the Euro 2025 tournament this summer.
Buhler was able to join up with the Swiss squad for the tournament, but it has now been decided that the tournament has come too soon for her to be able to compete. She will now return to London to continue with her recovery so she can be fit for the new season.
The announcement was relayed via Tottenham’s official website on Monday (30 June).
Buhler had only been called up for Switzerland in the last 12 months, and this would have been her first major tournament.
Euro 2025 involvement shows quality of Spurs Women squad
Spurs Women still have four representatives at the Euro 2025 tournament; Olga Ahtinen and Eveliina Summanen (Finland), Amanda Nilden (Sweden) and Lize Kop (Netherlands).
Ella Morris would have hoped to have been in action, but she suffered a nasty ACL injury while training with the England Women team.
The fact that Spurs have these six players on their books shows that they’re more than capable of a better finish in the WSL next season.
The club is yet to hire a new manager for the women’s team, but whoever is appointed will have a talented set of players to choose from, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to improve on last season’s finish under Vilahamn.
It’s likely to be seen as a highly attractive job for these reasons, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to tempt an experienced coach to North London.
And as for Buhler, there is no reason why she cannot come back stronger once she has fully recovered from this setback.
