Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the West Midlands club, and multiple clubs are keen on him. He is one of the most talented players in the Premier League, and it is no surprise that Tottenham are keen on him.
Villa not keen on Rogers sale
According to Football Insider, he is a “prize asset” for Aston Villa, and they are unwilling to sanction his departure any time soon. Spurs would have to come forward with an offer of around £80-100 million to convince Aston Villa. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Aston Villa are looking to build a squad capable of fighting for trophies and competing in Europe regularly. They will not want to sell their best players, especially at this stage of the window. The transfer window closes later today, and Aston Villa will not be able to replace him properly.
The midfielder was excellent for them last season, and he scored 14 goals in all competitions. He managed to pick up 16 assists as well. It would be a devastating blow for Aston Villa if he left the club this late in the window.
Spurs could use Morgan Rogers
As for Tottenham, they could certainly use more cutting-edge in the final third, and Rogers would be an exceptional acquisition. He is capable of operating as an attacking midfielder as well as a wide player. He has the technical attributes to compete at the highest level, and he could transform Spurs going forward.
There is no doubt that he would be an exceptional player in the long run. He has all the tools to develop into a future star. Even though the asking price might seem high right now, the player has the potential to justify the investment in future.
