Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window.
According to a report from the Telegraph, they will compete with Liverpool in order to get the deal done. The 24-year-old central defender is entering the final year of his contract, and Crystal Palace are under pressure to sell him.
They will not want to lose him on a free transfer for next year, and it makes sense for them to sell him for a reasonable price this summer. Tottenham need more depth in the defensive unit, and Guehi could prove to be an excellent acquisition. He has proven himself to be a reliable performer in the Premier League. Guehi has been labelled as an “exeptional” player.
Marc Guehi needs a big move
The 24-year-old is at the peak of his career, and this is the right time for him to move to a bigger club. Tottenham will be able to provide him with the platform to fight for trophies and compete in the UEFA Champions League.
It will be interesting to see if they can beat Premier League champions Liverpool to his signature.
Spurs could use Guehi
Tottenham managed to win the UEFA Europa League last season, and they will look to build on that and push for major trophies next season as well. They need to plug the weaknesses in their squad. Signing a reliable central defender would be ideal. They have looked vulnerable at the back last season.
In addition to that, Cristian Romero has been linked with the move away from the club, and they will need to replace him properly. Guehi has the ability to replace the South American and form a quality partnership with Micky van de Ven.
