Tottenham Hotspur could be about to miss out on two of their other top attacking targets during the January transfer window.
It was widely reported that Spurs were willing to shatter their wage structure to land Antoine Semenyo, as the club wanted to signal their ambition.
However, the North London side are set to lose out on the Bournemouth winger, who has now narrowed down his choice between Liverpool and Man City.
It has now been claimed that Spurs are also expected to be unsuccessful in their pursuits of two other top-class wingers.
Tottenham expected to miss out on their top Antoine Semenyo alternatives
It emerged a couple of days ago that Tottenham may turn their attention to Maghnes Akliouche after missing out on Semenyo, with the club’s scouts said to have been impressed with the Monaco man.
Some sources have claimed that Spurs have held advanced talks over a deal for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who has set the Bundesliga alight this term.
However, Dean Jones does not believe Tottenham have a chance of getting either player, suggesting that the club are going after overly ambitious targets.

Jones told TEAMtalk: “Tottenham’s plans for 2026 are already beginning to look too ambitious. They have had a couple of tough moments this year, first with Eberechi Eze going to Arsenal, Morgan Gibbs-White staying at Nottingham Forest, and now they’ve been given the cold shoulder by Antoine Semenyo.
“I don’t think he will be the last. They are scouting players like Maghnes Akliouche (Monaco) and Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig) but those players have top, top teams looking to sign them. The likes of PSG, Bayern Munich… and no one is likely to choose Spurs over those clubs, are they?
“I like the fact that Spurs want to raise the ceiling of what is possible but obviously they are not helped by the fact this season has not started well.”
Dean Jones claims 21-year-old is a realistic target for Spurs
It has been suggested that Tottenham could reignite their interest in Savinho after trying their best to lure him away from Man City in the summer.
Some journalists have said that Man City may be more open to selling Savinho in January than they were in the summer, and Jones also believes that the Brazilian may be a realistic target for Thomas Frank’s side.
He added: “They want a new attacking edge, but they know they also need a backup list of options. Savinho is one player who is part of that.
“The feeling is he might be more attainable than the others, but the problem will be finding a price-point that is agreeable to Manchester City.”
