Guglielmo Vicario has had a mixed start to life at Tottenham since his move to London in 2023.
The goalkeeper was easily one of Spurs’ best players in the 2023/24 campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s side just missed out on the Champions League.
However, last season Vicario struggled at Tottenham and made multiple mistakes as the London club finished 17th.
Vicario has since been linked with a Spurs exit as Thomas Frank looks to overhaul the squad this summer.
Tottenham ‘unlikely’ to sell Vicario after Alfie Whiteman departure
Alongside Vicario, Tottenham have multiple goalkeepers to give Frank options.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Antonin Kinsky was signed by Spurs in January and has already made 10 appearances for the London club in all competitions.
On top of this, Brandon Austin has been a long-time servant at Tottenham as the third-choice keeper.
Now, The Sun, page 51 (20 June), has confirmed that Spurs have lost Alfie Whiteman, with the goalkeeper set to leave the London club this month.
On top of this, highly-rated youngster Josh Keeley could be sent out on loan this summer after he spent last season at Leyton Orient.
However, Frank is “unlikely” to bring in or ship out any of his main goalkeepers this summer despite the ongoing rumours surrounding Vicario.
The question still remains whether the Dane will opt to have the Italian as his first choice or Kinsky.
Kinsky deserves a chance to shine at Spurs
In the latter end of the 2024/25 season, Kinsky had many standout performances despite Tottenham’s struggles.
As a result, Frank has to consider the Czech-born keeper to be Spurs’ number one next season.
Tottenham simply cannot afford to have an inconsistent goalkeeper if they are to return to the top end of the Premier League.
Hopefully, if Kinsky is given a run in between the sticks, he will prove why he should be starting regularly at the London club.
