Tottenham are set to reward one of their stars of last season with a new contract and he has confirmed that negotiations have taken place

Antonin Kinsky has confirmed his talks with Tottenham over a new contract as the club look to cement his future as Roberto De Zerbi's number one.

With Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave Spurs this summer, 23-year-old Kinsky is set to become the main man between the sticks for the north London club next season under Roberto De Zerbi thanks to his ability on the ball with his feet and his remarkable shot stopping.

The Czech played a huge role in keeping Tottenham in the Premier League last season as he came in for Vicario, who was recovering from hernia surgery, for the final seven games of the campaign.

Now Kinsky is about to be handed a bumper new deal until 2032 to recognise his status and in an interview back home, the goalkeeper has confirmed the talks with the club when asked about the arrival of the experienced former Newcastle and Burnley stopper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer.

"It’s a challenge; I’ll be fighting for a spot during pre-season. Negotiations are underway with the club about what the future might hold. I’m interested in staying and fighting for my place because the English league is great," he said in an interview with Czech media outlet Olympijsky Tym.

"Whether I’ll be the starter or the backup is something the coach will decide. In my mind, I’ve always been the number one, even when I was on the bench. I’ll take the same approach now, and I believe it’ll work out."

Kinsky also spoke about his friends in the locker room and who he talks with the most, saying: "I sit next to Micky van de Ven, so definitely with him, and then probably with Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, because they are closest to me in age."

After a short break, the goalkeeper is already focused on next season and what lies ahead.

"My girlfriend and I spent four days on vacation in Corfu, Greece. Nice weather, nice sea, great food. I really enjoyed it, because it was my first vacation in seven years, but now the focus is back on football," he said. "I'm getting ready for the next season with a fitness coach so that I can be as well prepared as possible and move where I want to be."
