There is likely to be a major overhaul in the playing squad at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, regardless of whether the club maintain their status as a Premier League club or not.
Spurs conceded a 95th-minute equaliser at home to Brighton on Saturday evening, meaning their search for a win in 2026 goes on.
Xavi Simons' superb striker had looked to be sending Tottenham to their first win of the year and out of the Premier League's bottom three, only for that late heartbreak to leave them in an even more perilous position at the foot of the table.
Two Incoming Tottenham Transfers Already Agreed
Victory for West Ham at Crystal Palace on Monday night would leave Spurs four points adrift of safety with just five games to go.
There has been plenty of speculation around players coming and going at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium already, even with the summer transfer window not opening for another two months.
Spurs have reached an agreement to sign Andy Robertson on a free transfer, while the Lilywhites are in advanced talks to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on a free transfer.
Both are contingent on Spurs being a Premier League team next season, however.
Such defensive reinforcements will be needed, with the likelihood that Cristian Romero leaves the club this summer, no matter what happens with the club's Premier League status.
Speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast last week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: "What I can tell you is that there is a feeling around all people involved in this story, on player's side, and then on club side, it is probably going to be time for Cuti Romero to leave in the summer transfer window.
"There is interest from Europe, and also from abroad. So for sure, there is a lot of interest in Romero, and the expectation of those around player and club is that something will happen in the summer. But it depends on the price."
A Second Centre-Back Is Likely To Leave Spurs This Summer
And Romero will not be the only centre-back departing, with reports in Romania claiming that Radu Dragusin has also agreed to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
There is no club named as a destination for the Romanian, but according to sportmedia.ro he has agreed to leave the club this summer and has instructed his agent Florin Manea to open talks with interested suitors.
The report goes on to state that Manea is already in talks with several clubs in Italy and Germany. Fiorentina, Roma, AC Milan, and RB Leipzig have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old who has only made nine appearances for Spurs this season.
