A Tottenham star has secured the Premier League Player of the Week award for the opening weekend of the competition, and there are no prizes for guessing who it is.

At the start of the summer, many Spurs fans would have felt that the club needed to upgrade on Richarlison, who had failed to fulfil his potential in his three years at Tottenham due to constant injury issues.

However, Dominic Solanke’s injury has given the Brazilian an opportunity to impress at the start of the Thomas Frank era, and he has grabbed it with both hands.

The 28-year-old produced a centre-forward masterclass against both PSG and Burnley, repaying Frank’s faith in him and serving a reminder of why the Lilywhites spent £60m on him.

Against the Clarets, the former Everton man produced two outstanding finishes.

While his second goal has got the limelight due to the acrobatic strike, his first goal also showed a touch of class, with Richarlison producing a cultured finish rather than smashing the ball despite the ball being crossed into him at an awkward height.

The striker also played a key hand in Tottenham’s third, using his body to shield the ball brilliantly before Pape Sarr played it forward to Brennan Johnson, who finished with ease.
